Richard G. Douglass

Richard "Rich" Douglass brings over 20 years of experience and a proven track record in diverse areas of litigation, such as commercial, real estate, legal and professional malpractice, executive compensation, and energy and commodity disputes. His extensive expertise, dedication to delivering exceptional representation, and numerous accolades have solidified his strong reputation for successfully guiding clients through complex disputes in both state and federal courts.   • Rich has a strong background in real estate and construction litigation, representing large-scale investors, developers, architects, engineers, contractors, and other industry professionals. His work includes property acquisition, development, and management disputes, as well as commercial landlord-tenant issues and foreclosure disputes. He is well-versed in addressing breaches of contract, fiduciary duty, and consumer protection laws in the real estate and construction sectors.
LEGAL AND PROFESSIONAL MALPRACTICE
  • In the realm of legal and professional malpractice, Rich has defended multiple Am Law 100 and 200 law firms against claims arising from general commercial litigation, corporate restructuring, and probate disputes. His expertise extends to defending lawyers against claims brought by adversaries in pending litigation and handling fee claims for non-payment by clients and federal agencies.  
EXECUTIVE COMPENSATION AND RESTRICTIVE COVENANTS
  • Rich has successfully represented CEOs, executives, national energy companies, financial advisors, and traders in disputes involving executive compensation, including sale bonus disputes, breach of employment agreements, and incentive plan disputes. He is also experienced in representing employers, employees, partners, and shareholders in multiple disputes involving alleged violations of restrictive covenants in employment and sale of business agreements.  
ENERGY AND COMMODITY LITIGATION 
  • Rich’s expertise in energy and commodity litigation covers energy commodity market manipulation, energy M&A disputes, and power purchase agreement disputes for clients such as PJM, national energy companies, and retail natural gas suppliers. He has also managed commercial and industrial contract disputes involving breaches of alternative retail electricity supply and retail natural gas supply agreements.
